Private Practice Accelerator

The year was 2008. I had to go back to working for another counseling agency because I couldn’t cut it doing private practice work. I still had my private practice, but I couldn’t support myself and my wife on what I was making. I was working 60 hours a week, traveling 2-3 hours a day, and I just barely made what my wife was making. She had no degree, and worked 40 hours/week, but she made more than I did.

At that point, I think I decided something needed to change….

So I started working hard that Summer, and was determined to get out from under my full time job, and work full time in private practice.

So at the end of 2008, when the stock market crashed and people were getting laid off left and right, I decided to quit my job and work private practice full time. My wife got laid off as well, and she came to work with me, and we had to cut our expenses in half. Within a few months, we worked together and made a solid practice that paid our bills and our mortgage.

Fast forward to today, and my private practice is my full time job. I earn more than most therapists, and I have figured out what it takes to make sure I never go back to working for someone else!
